Herd Sires

Indian Mound Ranch believes that success happens when you breed the best possible cows to the best possible herd bulls. Each year we only turn out herd sires that are either the top bulls raised at our ranch or bulls that we have purchased from the most respected cow herd in North America. Below are some of the bulls in use at our ranch currently.

IMR 710E DOMINO 0117H ET

AHA NUMBER: 44131672
0117H is our pick to carry on the legacy of CL 1 Domino 710E 1ET. He is the best prospect to raise females that we have ever raised. His dam, 1014Y, is the anchor of our embryo program for many reasons. She produces performance, look and style with plenty of pigment. The thing that she really brings to the table is udder quality! She is now 10 years old with a great udder and she has raised many daughters, granddaughters and more with the same great udders. Now combine that with 710E who has one of the most beautiful sets of first calf heifers that we have ever had on the ranch and the 0117H daughters should hit it out of the park. Now when analyzing this bull, you will also note that like his sire 710E he should be a terrific heifer bull. We will be calving heifers bred to him in the spring and are excited to see the calves. Finally, for those of you who like studying pedigrees and history you will find this pedigree full of Indian Mound history, going all the way back to Dad’s best 300C daughter in the 1980’s and CH Domino 359 in the 1970’s.

IMR L1 5047C ADVANCE 8099F ET

AHA NUMBER: 43911800
8099F is one of our picks from the 2018 calf crop. He was the top valued bull in our 2019 sale with 1/2 interest selling to Coates Ranch Company in Mertzon, Texas. This bull is extremely red and short marked with red eyes. He is thick, deep bodied and extremely easy fleshing. His sire was one of the top sellers at Holden Herefords and became a herd bull at Cooper Hereford Ranch. His dam, 828U, is straight Holden bred cow and has been a big time producer for us and is still producing at 12 years of age. We see a big future for 8099F! CL 1 DOMINO 710E 1ET

AHA NUMBER: 43800218
710E is one of the best and most complete bulls in the country today. This outstanding, Line 1, bull is proving to be a light birth weight, calving ease sire. What is unique about 710E is that the story keeps getting better as he breeds good growth and performance with real carcass merit. 710E is attractive, long bodied and deep sided with an excellent muscle pattern. Finally, he is short marked and red eyed. He may be the most complete son of 215Z and his beautiful mother is in the donor pen at Cooper Hereford Ranch. I don't know where you would go today to find a more complete bull! Owned in partnership with Coates Ranch Company of Mertzon, Texas and Cooper Hereford Ranch in Willow Creek, Montana.

NJW 33TB 100W TRUST 167Y

AHA NUMBER: 43214415
167Y is one of those rare bulls that does everything well. We picked 167Y at Ned and Jan Ward’s sale because he was above average in their herd for weaning, yearling, REA and Marbling while still being very attractive with good thickness and depth. We hoped that he would breed that same total performance into his calves and he has even exceeded our expectations. He sires light birth weights and has an average birth weight ratio of 97.6 on his progeny to date. His calves have plenty of growth and outstanding carcass data with an average REA ratio of 100.3 and an average Marbling ratio of 108.5 on all of his progeny so far. We calved his first daughters this spring and they look terrific with very nice udders. We recently leased 167Y to the Genex Cooperative and they will begin to market semen on him in the fall of 2015.

L1 DOMINO 08542

AHA NUMBER: 42915174
SEMEN FOR SALE: $25.00 per Straw and $75.00 per Certificate
OWNED WITH: Coates Ranch, Mertzon, Texas
The best way to describe “08542” is that he gets better and better with time. We always knew that he was a tremendous individual who is thick, big ribbed, attractive and well marked. Each year that we have used him we seem to just get better calves. His son’s have been popular in the sale because they are so stout and muscular. His daughters are moderate framed with beautiful udders and have posted an average weaning weight of 108.4 on their calves at weaning. Another bright spot for his progeny has been carcass traits with an average REA ratio of 100.1 and an average Marbling ratio of 103.2 on his progeny. We will have many daughters in production and so he will play a large roll in our herd for many years to come.
